Stressed and Fed up? Put a smile on your feet!

Welcome to my website and Footloose Reflexology

Have you ever considered using reflexology as a stress-buster? My name is Maria and I am a reflexologist based in Sevenoaks, Kent, which is easily accessible from villages between Orpington, Tonbridge and Oxted. I hope that my site will offer you some useful information about this natural and very effective health therapy.

Reflexology goes back to ancient civilizations including Egypt and China. It aims to take the stress out of your system and wants to help you unwind deeply. Reflexology is a non-intrusive, gentle technique based on the theory that different points on the feet (or hands/face) correspond with different areas - organs, nerves, glands and other parts - of the body. The idea is that by applying pressure on specific points and by stimulating specific areas on hands or feet, reflexology has an effect on the corresponding organs, nerves, glands or systems within the body. This technique can help the body to restore its natural balance. At the most basic level, reflexology improves circulation and blood flow. Other benefits include a feeling of deep relaxation and an easing of tension. Reflexology is an effective therapy when you want to improve your mood, need help with sleep problems and long for a feeling of improved well-being in general. It helps to boost the immune system, fights infection, removes waste and, simply put, stimulates the body's own healing processes.

Dealing with stress is only one reason why people have turned to this particular therapy. There are many other reasons as the short video below will show. In it, a number of men and women talk about their reasons for turning to reflexology. The video was produced for the Association of Reflexologists (AoR) of which I am a Full Member.

Reflexology can be received by anyone at any age. It can be given to newborn babies just as well as to people at the end of their lives - as a volunteer therapist, I regularly work with patients in the Kent based Hospice in the Weald. Reflexology does not seek to substitute medical advice or treatment and a professional reflexologist will not claim to diagnose, cure or prescribe. This therapy can comfortably sit beside modern medicine and add another technique of helping the body's own coping and healing mechanisms.

As reflexology is a very individual treatment which will be tailored to you individually, the best way to find out if and how it works for you is to try it out. Please do contact me, if you have specific questions or want to find out more about the work of a reflexologist. Whatever your reasons for seeking help through reflexology are, I am here to help.
